The Benefits of Neighbourhood Watch

The benefits of Neighbourhood Watch

We all want a better place to live - whether it be making new friendships, looking after our environment, supporting our neighbours, reducing isolation and loneliness, or working together to reduce fear of, and opportunities for, crime.

By being more active on your street you can help prevent crime, reduce loneliness and isolation, and build a more resilient community. And, being more active also means you and your neighbours can better support each other.

Each street, road or group of houses that becomes a neighbourhood watch scheme, joins an organisation that has been around since 1982 (known then as Home Watch).

A neighbourhood watch scheme can help people:

· protect vulnerable neighbours from doorstep scams, fraud, online crime;

· keep neighbours up-to-date about what’s happening;

· reduce burglary, theft and car crime;

· build a more vibrant community;

· minimise antisocial behaviour;

· support each other;
